The Walvis Bay Backyard Tenants Association is thrilled to announce a significant milestone in its journey toward securing land for its members. The Walvis Bay Town Council has officially approved the allocation of a large portion of land at Farm 37, a promising area identified in 2015 to address the town’s growing land and housing needs.
Located approximately 10 kilometers outside of the bustling harbor town, Farm 37 has long been recognized as a potential solution to the pressing issue of land scarcity in Walvis Bay. The town council’s recent approval marks a major step forward for our association, bringing hope to over 1,000 members who have been striving for the opportunity to secure their own plots of land.
While this approval is a cause for celebration, it is only the beginning of our journey. The next steps involve obtaining the necessary endorsements from higher authorities. The members’ application will now be submitted to the Minister of Urban and Rural Development and the Namibia Planning Advisory Board (NAMPAB) for further approval.
We are optimistic that with continued determination and collective effort, our members will soon realize their dream of owning land and building homes at Farm 37. The approval from the town council is a testament to the hard work and unity of the Walvis Bay Backyard Tenants Association, and we remain committed to navigating the upcoming challenges with the same spirit.
